MailBridge works by receiving emails on your behalf. Every organization gets a unique inbound address — something like [email protected]. Once an email lands there, MailBridge triages it and routes the notification to your Slack or Discord channel.
The missing piece is getting your existing support email — [email protected], hello@, contact@, whatever you use — to forward to that address automatically. Here’s how to do it in the most common email providers.
Find your inbound address
Before you start, grab your inbound address from the dashboard:
- Go to Settings → General
- Under Organization details, you’ll see your inbound email address
- Click Copy to copy it to your clipboard
Keep that handy — you’ll paste it into whichever provider you use below.
Gmail (personal)
Gmail lets you set up automatic forwarding to another address.
- Open Gmail and go to Settings (the gear icon) → See all settings
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
- Click Add a forwarding address and paste your MailBridge inbound address
- Gmail will send a confirmation email — check your MailBridge dashboard for the notification, or look in your connected Slack/Discord channel for the verification code
- Back in Gmail settings, select Forward a copy of incoming mail to and choose your MailBridge address
- Choose what to do with the original (keep it, archive it, or delete it — keeping a copy is usually safest)
- Click Save Changes
All future emails to that Gmail inbox will now flow into MailBridge.
Google Workspace (business email)
If your team uses Google Workspace ([email protected]), you have two options:
Option A — Per-mailbox forwarding (recommended for a single inbox):
Same steps as Gmail above. Log into the specific mailbox (e.g. [email protected]), then follow the Gmail instructions.
Option B — Admin-level routing (for all inboxes or a shared inbox):
- Log into the Google Admin console
- Go to Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail → Default routing
- Click Add another rule
- Set the envelope recipient to match your support address
- Under Also deliver to, add your MailBridge inbound address
- Save the rule
Admin-level routing is useful when you want to forward from a shared inbox or alias that multiple people send to.
Microsoft Outlook (personal or Microsoft 365)
Outlook.com (personal):
- Go to Settings → Mail → Forwarding
- Enable Email forwarding
- Paste your MailBridge inbound address into the forwarding address field
- Optionally tick Keep a copy of forwarded messages
- Save
Microsoft 365 (business):
- Log into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Go to Users → Active users and select the mailbox you want to forward from
- Click the Mail tab
- Under Email forwarding, click Manage email forwarding
- Enable forwarding and enter your MailBridge inbound address
- Save
Zoho Mail
- Log into Zoho Mail and go to Settings → Mail Accounts
- Select the account you want to forward from
- Click Email Forwarding & POP → Add Forwarding Address
- Paste your MailBridge inbound address and confirm
- Once verified, enable forwarding and save
Fastmail
- Go to Settings → Forwarding
- Click Add forwarding address and enter your MailBridge inbound address
- Verify the address via the confirmation email
- Enable forwarding and save
Tips and common questions
Will my customers know their email is being forwarded? No. Forwarding is invisible to the sender. They email your support address and everything works as normal from their end.
Do I need to keep a copy in my original inbox? It’s up to you. During your first few days we recommend keeping copies so you can compare what MailBridge receives against your original inbox. Once you’re confident everything is flowing correctly, you can archive or delete copies automatically.
Can I forward multiple addresses? Yes — just set up forwarding from each address to your same MailBridge inbound address. All emails will be triaged and routed through the same pipeline.
What if I use a custom mail server (Postfix, cPanel, etc.)? You can configure an alias or forwarding rule in your mail server config to pipe mail to your MailBridge inbound address. The exact steps depend on your setup, but the destination is always the same inbound address from your dashboard.
Once forwarding is live, send a test email to your support address and watch the notification appear in your connected Slack or Discord channel within a few seconds. If nothing shows up after a minute, double-check the forwarding address for typos and confirm your integration is connected in Settings → Integrations.
