Jira doesn’t come up as often in conversations about small, fast-moving teams, but plenty of them still use it. Sometimes it’s what an engineering lead brought over from a previous job. Sometimes it’s just what the team settled on before anyone thought too hard about it. Either way, if that’s where your bugs live, MailBridge now writes directly into it.

Jira joins Linear, ClickUp, and GitHub as a full project management integration. Connect your Atlassian site, and triaged bug reports and feature requests open as real Jira issues automatically.

What actually happens

When an email is triaged as a bug report or feature request, MailBridge can open it directly as a Jira issue in the project you’ve connected. Two things carry over automatically that usually get lost in manual re-entry: the issue type and the priority.

A bug report opens as a Bug. A feature request opens as a Story or Task, depending on how your project is set up. And the priority MailBridge assigned during triage maps onto Jira’s own priority field, so a critical issue actually shows up as Highest priority in Jira, not as an unlabelled ticket someone has to triage all over again.

Why this matters more than it sounds

The expensive part of a support-to-engineering handoff usually isn’t deciding something is a real bug. It’s the re-entry. Someone reads the email, opens Jira, writes a new ticket, tries to remember the priority language your team actually uses, and only then gets back to replying to the customer. Every one of those steps is a place for details to get lost or softened.

Automating that handoff doesn’t just save time. It keeps the priority and description closer to what the customer actually said, instead of a paraphrased version written under time pressure.

How it fits with your other tools

If you’re already using Linear, ClickUp, or GitHub with MailBridge, only one integration can be primary at a time, the one new tickets go to by default when a routing rule doesn’t say otherwise. Connecting Jira and setting it as primary demotes whichever integration held that spot before. Nothing gets disconnected, you’re just choosing where the source of truth lives.

Setting it up

Connect it from the Integrations page. Authorise MailBridge to access your Atlassian site, pick the project new issues should land in, and optionally map specific email categories to different issue types or priorities. No changes needed on the Jira side.

Jira is available now on the plans that support project management integrations. Connect it from the Integrations page in your dashboard, or read the full setup guide.
